Position Profile

Position Summary:

The Cabinet Trim Carpenter - Service Technician (1099) performs service work assigned by the DC on a daily basis. On occasion the Service Technician will  completes field measures of houses prior to ordering cabinets, monitors field cabinet installations, and complete quality walks. 



Position Accountabilities:

(Other duties, incidental or regular, may be assigned at management’s discretion)

  • Perform punch-out work at MBCI subdivisions.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction by performing quality walks
  • Deliver and install parts, as a follow-up to initial installation
  • Perform responsibilities in compliance with safety rules and regulations and good housekeeping practices
  • Operate digital camera and woodworking tools in safe manner to complete assigned tasks
  • Track usage and replenish established inventory of cabinet parts and designated materials as required
  • Establish and build relationship with assigned builder superintendents and construction management staff.
  • Effectively communicate with site superintendent on job completions, both verbally and written as the job requires.
  • Fill in for Field Service Rep as required depending on the demands of the operations group, as well as miscellaneous task that could be assigned by supervisor from time to time.
  • Primarily indoor environment with temperature and humidity variances depending on outdoor conditions; some outdoor work on construction sites
  • The noise level is usually moderate. Ear plugs could be required.
  • Use of personal protective equipment will required on job sites.
  • The working environment may include threat of foot injuries (from dropped material). Wearing of sturdy leather boots or shoes is required when in that area. Wearing of steel-toed shoes is required when on job sites or when spending greater than 25% of the day in the warehouse environment.
  • The environment may periodically include low level dust and/or fumes. Wearing of respirator not required.

Knowledge and Experience:

  • Previous related employment experience in the construction industry
  • Contractor’s license/previous supervisory experience is a plus
  • Cabinet experience/knowledge is crucial
  • Ability to effectively communicate with customers, internal and external
  • Ability to operate power and hand woodworking tools
  • Understand kitchen layouts and read blueprints
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts
